Pain sucks but it may just be the gift required to propel us forward!
Most of us avoid pain at all costs when, in reality, pain can serve as an amazing indicator that it’s time for change.
People will often stay in jobs, relationships, and countries they aren’t happy in until something painful enough to move them to action happens. Pain can be a great communicator if we’re open to learning.
When we experience pain, it is often because we recognize that we’re living below our potential. I remember experiencing this when I sat down at a family BBQ and I had to keep pulling my shirt away from my belly. I was embarrassed that I had let myself go and decided in that moment that I was living below my potential. The experience was awful BUT it made me commit to a healthier lifestyle which would expose me to my greater potential. What pain are you experiencing right now that could be an indicator that you were created for more than what you’re living right now?
Pain can also be an indicator that it’s time to level up or that you’re in the midst of leveling up. It feels uncomfortable, unfamiliar, and sometimes physically painful. This is a great way to indicate that we’re moving forward, growing, and developing into a person of excellence!
Exposure to pain can make us reflect on poor past decisions, old patterns, and ways of thinking that are keeping us chained to the past. It can even be an indicator that your friends and associations aren’t supporting the best of who you could be. Look around at your associations. Are they living the dream life you want to emulate spiritually, mentally, professionally, physically? If not, it may be time to surround yourself with high achievers who will positively influence your new habits and lifestyle of achievement.
Far too often when we embark on a journey of personal development and positive change, we think about all the things that we will sacrifice and miss in the process. You can powerfully shift your perspective by thinking of all the things you will gain. Things like higher self confidence, focus, clarity, stamina, a healthier body, and excellent habits.
What pain is speaking to you today? What one action step can you take to lean in to the change that you will thank yourself for six months from now?
Leverage pain. The time will pass anyhow and this is the golden opportunity to embrace the pain as an indicator that you were made for more.
