I’ve had the pleasure of spending the last week training with some of the top coaches in the world! They are also some of the most highly productive and successful people in their field. I paid attention to their behaviours and wanted to share some takeaways that are common with most high achievers!
It was amazing to witness some of the coaching role-play and practicum assignments between veteran and novice coaches. They all had one thing in common: they have a humble spirit and were open to feedback from their peers. They approached each task with an open mind and were always taking notes and learning more.
What an exceptional community of human beings! Not only were they willing to learn from first-year students, but they were genuinely happy for their success and accomplishments. Most successful people do share this trait! They LOVE seeing others succeed. They don’t “wish” they were more like another person; they ask what habits or skills they’ve committed to in order to be successful and then they take action on the advice! You’ll never hear truly successful people criticizing and putting others down. No, the best of the best raise others up and have a deep desire to serve!
Not only are they ok being uncomfortable, but most also play full out and are willing to get silly, even on camera. They put themselves out there and fully immerse themselves in role-play while exposing some of their vulnerabilities as a result. And what I witnessed, was that the ones most willing to get uncomfortable experienced life-changing breakthroughs. It was actually insane to witness!
Many of the coaches I had conversations with clearly had structure and disciplined health habits. Their office walls communicated thoughtfulness through mindful reminders and charts and goals and vision boards. They described their own journey and how they ensured success through intentional living. All shared a common desire to heightened that discipline and structure knowing that there’s always another level that they can aim for.
Every coach needs a great coach! While some of them are at the top of their game they recognize that learning is an ongoing process. All had coaches to hold their feet to the fire. None were complacent about their success.
This was evident during each and every interaction. During coaching sessions, they were focused in like a laser, sincerely interested in their “client” and challenged them to become better during the short time they spent with one another. There was a common purpose that their work was literally transforming lives and that’s what drove them!
What are some of the habits that you’ve seen successful people adopt? As always, we would love your feedback!
