Look for the good and look for the overwhelming evidence that life is amazing!
Despite today's challenges and tomorrow's obstacles, life is great. Hey, you and I woke up on the right side of the soil this morning!
Often when things start to crumble around us, we look for evidence that life is hard. While life will always pose challenges big and small, there are also ways in which we can redirect our focus to live happier right now.
If we’re consistently looking for evidence that supports our belief that life is hard, we will find it. We will also find that life is good if we’re looking for evidence of that too. In fact, when we look for the good, it snowballs, and we tend to see more and more of it. if this becomes habitual for us, we will find the good in the smallest of details like the birds singing, the gorgeous weather. We will have moments of deep gratitude in simple acts like having a shower with running water when so many on the planet do not have...
I’ve been thinking a lot about legacy lately and a new dream is forming on my heart. I want to impact tween girls so that their lives are forever changed through personal development.
As an eleven year old girl, I was 5’2” and 210lbs. Not exactly the epitome of health or confidence! I always had great friends in school, but I was also always very self-conscious and would longingly look at my friend’s tiny waistlines and wonder what it was like to be skinny. I would long to be the one running the track and “own the room” like some of the popular girls in my class.
Looking back, I’m so glad that I went through that awkward period in my life because I believe it has shaped me to be the person I am today. I can have compassion when people struggle with their weight. I know what it’s like to feel stuck, not knowing where to start.
I’m sharing this because I believe that most tween girls are experiencing the same pain and...
I’ll admit it, the past few weeks have been a struggle. I’ve been pulled into the news and sensationalism of news stories and doom and gloom. As a result, I found myself cynical, negative and on edge. I’ve always guarded my mind from the news. It’s been a discipline to ignore the news since 2008 when a coach challenged me to give it up for a month and see how my life changed. Well, it changed in an incredible way! During one of the most challenging economic times to run a business, ours grew 43% and I’m a big believer that it was because of the positive mindset I adopted during that time!
Some may say that missing the news is naïve. I’m here to challenge that way of thinking and ask that you consider that if anything absolutely critical is happening in the world, it will filter through to you. You’re going to find out the major news that impacts you directly and that watching the news on a loop is one of the worst things you can...
This was one of the first major lessons I learned at the beginning of my career. Since then, I’ve been studying high performers and devouring their content! What I’ve noticed is that the highest achievers aren’t lucky. In fact, many came from dire situations and rose out of unspeakable adversity. They weren’t special, in fact some were treated so poorly early on in life that you wouldn’t fault them for being bitter or for having a victim mentality.
What I found in the highest achievers is that they have different habits and higher expectations of themselves that produce intentional and exceptional results!
When we’re not paying attention, we can drift through life and miss some pretty epic clues to leading a fully engaged and charged up life!
As a Certified High Performance Coach™ as well as a student in high performance, here’s what I’ve noticed about high performers…
They have strong habits!
Most are dedicated to a...
I’ll be honest with you. I don’t wake up every morning with a spring in my step and an eagerness to serve others. In fact, there are some mornings that I want to roll over, pull up the sheets, snuggle my basenji and let someone else be the boss for the day!
I’ve experienced some of my darkest times as a leader during COVID. Battling negative conversations in my mind about the future of the economy, will our savings run dry if this continues for years, will I have to lay people off if there’s a second wave, will it just be Friday already! Anyone else relate? Bueller, Bueller?
All that said, I will share with you a powerful way to remedy a funk and that is by practicing gratitude and setting intentions. I started doing a gratitude journal about four years ago and it is a fantastic way to rebalance and reframe your thinking. At the end of the day, while this year has been a rollercoaster ride, there is still SO much to be grateful...
